Common indie hacker pattern

Your launch reached one platform and fizzled out

Coordinate a multi-platform launch day

Launch on Product Hunt, Hacker News, Twitter, Reddit, and IndieHackers on the same day. The combined buzz creates momentum no single platform can.

AcquisitionIntermediate
1-2 weeks preparation, launch day, 1 week follow-up

When to use

You have a product ready for a public launch and haven't exhausted these platforms yet.

Hypothesis template

If we coordinate launches on [3+ platforms] on the same day, total signups will be [target]x more than a single platform because cross-platform buzz compounds.

Method

The problem: You launched on Product Hunt, got 200 upvotes, and then silence. One platform alone rarely creates sustained momentum.

What works: Coordinate your launch across Product Hunt, Hacker News (Show HN), Twitter thread, Reddit posts, IndieHackers, and email list — all on the same day. Each platform feeds the others.

The result: Multi-platform launches get 3-5x more total reach than single-platform launches because activity on one platform drives traffic to others.

How to do it:

  1. Pick a Tuesday or Wednesday (best for most platforms)
  2. Prepare all content in advance:
    • Product Hunt listing
    • Show HN post and first comment
    • Twitter thread (7-10 tweets)
    • Reddit posts for 2-3 relevant subreddits
    • IndieHackers post
    • Email to your list
  3. Launch everything between 8-10am ET
  4. Cross-reference: "Also live on Product Hunt" in your HN post, etc.
  5. Block the entire day for engagement — respond to everything
  6. Send a "launch day" email to your list asking for support

Key insight: The compounding effect is real. PH voters see your HN post and vice versa. Twitter followers vote on PH. Each platform amplifies the others.
