Your free trial signup requires too much information
Reduce signup to email-only
Every field you add to signup drops conversion by 10-15%. Email-only signup maximizes top of funnel.

When to use
Your signup form has 3+ fields and measurable drop-off.
Hypothesis template
If we reduce signup to [email only], registration will increase by [target]% because minimal friction maximizes conversion.
Method
The problem: Your signup asks for name, email, password, company, role, and team size. By field 4, users abandon.
How to do it:
- Remove every field except email from signup
- Send a magic link or set password via email
- Collect name, company, and role during onboarding (after they're in the product)
- Use progressive profiling: ask one question per session, not all at once
- Track: signup completion rate before vs after
Key insight: Get them in the door first. You can ask for details once they're already seeing value. Asking before they see value is asking them to invest in something unproven.
Success metrics
- •Signup completion rate
- •Top-of-funnel increase
- •Data completeness rate (collected later)
- •Activation rate of email-only signups
Prerequisites

- Email-based auth or magic links
- A way to collect profile info later
Common pitfalls
- •Removing email verification entirely (still need to verify)
- •Not collecting essential info later
- •Requiring password creation upfront
- •Not A/B testing against current form
