You don't have a way to win back users who cancelled months ago
Users who cancelled 3-6 months ago are your warmest cold leads. A personal email with a relevant update can reactivate 5-10%.
When to use
You have churned users from 3-6 months ago with email addresses.
Hypothesis template
If we run quarterly win-back emails to [churned users] showing [new features/improvements], we'll reactivate [target]% because they already know and used the product.
Method
The problem: Users who cancelled are forgotten. But they already know your product - they just had a reason to leave.
How to do it:
- Segment churned users by time since cancellation (3-6 months is the sweet spot)
- Write a personal email: "A lot has changed since you left"
- Highlight 2-3 features or improvements shipped since they left
- Address their likely reason for leaving (if you have churn survey data)
- Offer an incentive: "Come back for 50% off your first month"
- Track: reactivation rate, reactivated user retention
Key insight: Churned users who come back have higher LTV than average because they've already evaluated competitors and chose to return.
